OVERVIEW

The Main Library reopened April 4, 2018, after being shut down for eighteen months to accommodate a massive renovation.  The reopening marked a double cause for celebration.  The date was also the fifty-year observance of the original dedication of one of the most distinctive buildings in northern Utah.

OVERVIEW

Library employees welcomed the public back to their newly renovated, greatly expanded, and technologically enhanced North Branch Library on Saturday, June 23, 2018.  Redesigned by EDA Architects and renovated by R&O Construction, the now 23,500 square feet of public service space was the final project completed as part of the Library’s five-year capital plan.  The Library closed April 15, 2017 for a massive makeover.

The Ogden Valley Branch Library and David Eccles Community Center were dedicated and opened their doors for service on October 14, 1995.  This beautiful 19,600 square foot facility was constructed on land donated by the Town of Huntsville.  The construction cost of $1,729,000 came from a small increase in the Library Fund tax rate, and the building was furnished, equipped, and stocked with a $500,000 donation from the Library Development Fund.

The Pleasant Valley Branch is a 38,835 sq. ft., LEED Gold certified, state-of-the-art Library and community center that was completed in early 2009 and dedicated on April 25th of the same year.

The new Southwest Branch Library opened February 29, 2016, on a 7.25-acre site donated by Roy City.  The new Library was designed to serve area residents as a third place community-learning platform for knowledge creation and sharing.  It was built to a LEED gold standard that was called out in a five-year capital plan.  Voters in Weber  County’s first vote-by-mail election approved the capital plan.  The 73,0
