OVERVIEW

The Ogden Valley Branch Library and David Eccles Community Center were dedicated and opened their doors for service on October 14, 1995.  This beautiful 19,600 square foot facility was constructed on land donated by the Town of Huntsville.  The construction cost of $1,729,000 came from a small increase in the Library Fund tax rate, and the building was furnished, equipped, and stocked with a $500,000 donation from the Library Development Fund.

The Valley Branch supports the overall mission of the Weber County Library System by serving as a popular materials information center.  Its secondary role is to serve as Ogden Valley’s community center.

In its capacity as a community center, the building is equipped with a 150-seat auditorium, large community room complete with full kitchen facilities, two smaller public meeting rooms, and an outdoor garden with a presentation area.  The Branch is served by a satellite downlink connected to a building-wide video, and data distribution facilities.  A grand piano and an electronic keyboard are also available for public programs and recitals.  The public meeting rooms and retreat spaces are available during business hours and for after-hours rent.

The branch houses approximately 45,000 items selected to support the mission of service as a popular materials community information center.  Two public computer centers, one specifically for children, and the other for people of all ages, offer access to in-house and Web-based information resources.

The Branch hosts delivery of hot meal and health services for senior residents, and many educational, public, and community service programs.  Special programs and services include book discussions, children’s discovery programs, after school programs, public notary service, fax service, and classes in computer and eMedia use.

The facility also houses an art gallery that provides exhibit space for paintings and three-dimensional works of art.

RETREAT & BEAT THE HEAT

Weber County Library’s Ogden Valley Branch is nestled in the heart of Northern Utah’s Wasatch Mountains, minutes from three major ski resorts, Pineview Reservoir, a highly-rated golf course, and world class hiking and biking trails. Located approximately forty minutes from Salt Lake City and the road trip includes one of Utah’s Scenic Byways, it is just far enough for a quiet corporate or government retreat, while not too far to require excessive travel time. The Ogden Valley Branch is the perfect out-of-the-city getaway for your next informal meeting or event. Call for more information: 801-337-2660 or 801-337-2617.  Click for brochure.
