5 Simple Ways to Raise a Reader

Family Fun Night

Family Fun Nights are fun, free programs for families to enjoy together.  Raise a reading family by making books a habit!   Every month we offer an evening event featuring special guests and activities designed to highlight the joy of reading and the many ways books expand our lives.  Please call (801) 337-2639 for more information.

International Games Day

International Games Day @ your library is an American Library Association initiative to reconnect communities through their libraries around the educational, recreational, and social value of all types of games.

In the 21st century, libraries are about much more than books. Every November, the youth services team at the Weber County Library offers an afternoon of gaming programs for kids, teens, and families.  Check back for information about our 2014 program.

Sensory Story Hours

Sensory Story Hours are programs designed for children with special needs, featuring stories and activities integrating the five senses. The Main Library offers a preschool session, and the Pleasant Valley Branch offers a program for school-aged children. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver. For more information, please call 801-337-2639, or 801-337-2690.

Story Fiesta/Fiesta de Cuentos

Children and their families are invited to join us every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the Main Library for fun in English and Spanish, with stories, games, music, and treats.  All ages are welcome.  ¡Vamos a leer!

Youth Chess Club

The Weber County Library Youth Chess Club is not just about creating good players; it's also about creating great thinkers.  Players aged 4 to 18 are invited to learn and play the ultimate intellectual game.  All supplies are provided.  Clubs are held every Tuesday at 4:00 at the Ogden Valley Branch and the Pleasant Valley Branch; every Wednesday at 4:15 at the Main Library; and every Thursday at 4:00 at the North Branch.  Please call any of these locations for more information.
